Building a Fortress for Utopia.

I am New Orleans cloth, with my father’s heart and my mama’s radical veins.

It’s easy for me to call myself a healer and teacher because I have seen the works be made into gold, tears, smiles, and restoration. When I chose a life of activism artistry, I knew it would come to be a colorful, devoted, and efficient life for me. Now, every act of service is intended to move community forward or not at all.

I have dedicated my life and my passions have dedicated me to controlling the narrative, small and large.

A self-published author, a poet, sometimes rapper, occasional director, herb promoter, peace pusher, and now mother.

While writing this, I am 36 weeks pregnant and patiently awaiting the arrival of my child, during a world pandemic, and even relevant, during hurricane season. Last year around this time, I was chasing a storm out of the city, literally. I was living in Baton Rouge, LA and traveled to New Orleans with the belief and conviction that Hurricane Harvey would find a better place to be than bringing fear and more trauma to the lives of people who still deal with ptsd from the year 2005. This time is different, now I am close to laboring and a little more cautious of more than just my own life. Wanting to remain stress-free for the remainder of my pregnancy and post-labor, my partner and I decided to evacuate the city.

It’s amazing how drastically life can change in a year. There was a time when I would move like a butterfly, going where the wind did and choosing only for myself. Now, I am a more evolved version of self that has to be accountable for a growing human who needs my guidance and wisdom on the frontline. This is a blessing, nonetheless. I am being made over and transformed as I get ready to rebirth as she births.

I look forward to the way my writing will rebirth as well. More stories of truth and futuristic authority. More narrating and directing, leaving my voiceprint and visions in the media world for generations to come. More ways of coaching leaders and healers into their centers where they fulfill their purpose and coach more leaders and more healers to do the same. More mediating, for the culture, because we all have so much to say and everyone needs to be heard, respectfully and intentionally.

So this is a little me, currently, on this journey of building Utopia. I wanted to share a bit, so you’ll feel me more and be welcomed to journey with me.
